With breathtaking beaches, warm, welcoming waters and plenty of ways to wear out little legs, Barbados is the Caribbean island for family holidays.
Brilliant beaches and resorts to suit all budgets make Barbados’s tourist towns – Holetown, St Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown – a great choice for family-friendly holiday fun.
Kids big and small can explore reefs, bounce across the waves on boogie boards and tuck into tasty fried fish. You can also descend underground to limestone caves, dip beneath the waves on a thrilling submarine cruise, and spot turtles, crocs and monkeys in the island’s breathtaking national parks.
In short, a holiday to Barbados will be a hit with all ages.
Holetown
On the west of the island, Holetown Beach’s calm waters are perfect for swimmers and paddlers. With kayaking, beach games and seafront cafes nearby, there’s plenty to occupy the family here. For more family fun, head for the Folkestone Marine Park for diving, snorkelling and paddleboarding, before taking a trip to Harrison’s Cave to see otherworldly subterranean scenery.
St Lawrence Gap
When you’re not sipping from coconuts on Dover Beach, you’ll be swimming with turtles off the coast of Folkestone and exploring colourful local markets. Take a trip to nearby Oistins for the Friday night fish fry. Expect big crowds, plenty of seafood and live entertainment for all the family.
Bridgetown
The Bajan capital of Bridgetown is rich in Caribbean culture and family-friendly resorts, not to mention restaurants, markets and museums. And at the Shallow Draught Marina, you can hop aboard the award-winning Atlantis submarine. It plunges down into the depths for an undersea voyage complete with tropical fish, coral and the odd shipwreck.
